Alexandra Kontriner was born in 1980 in Lienz in Tyrol and lives and works in Vienna.

Her first solo exhibition Insektarium took place in Lienz in 2018 at the RLB Atelier Lienz. Her works are represented in numerous group exhibitions: Creatura, Galerie Heike Curtze in Salzburg, Meister der Grafik at Galerie artdepot in Innsbruck, Art Austria at Gartenpalais Liechtenstein in Vienna, Drawing Now Art Fair at Le Carreau du Temple in Paris represented by Galerie Heike Curtze.

Alexandra Kontriner devotes herself with a stupendous skill to the depiction of insects, birds, hornets, beetles or a group of flies arranged in ballet fashion. She draws on pre-embossed handmade paper. In contrast to the natural history collections, the works radiate the intensity with which Kontriner devoted herself to the models.
