anee mann was born in Munich; lives and works in Paris.
"anee mann collects and studies everyday life. Fascinated by the objects and situations of daily life, drawn and formed by the perpetual use, the artist carries her 'finds' from her many journeys into her art. Collages serve her as a collection basin and at the same time become a platform for anee mann's intellectual communication: the ordinary becomes unfamiliar and the everyday stands in a new context that calls everything into question.
Also through the technique of anee mann's photographic works, the physical demonstration of different levels, the artist calls upon the viewer to take a deeper and thus questioning look at his direct surroundings, tradition and way of life.
In her latest works, anee mann deals with a very classical motif of art history: the representation of landscapes. Through her very independent realisation and the partial objectisation of the pictures in fluorescent tubes, anee mann not only remains true to her motto of alienating and questioning so-called everyday objects, but also creates a completely new and fresh aspect of classical landscape representation". - Valerie Felten, Berlingen
