Chloe Piene was born in 1972 in Connecticut; lives and works in The Hague and New York. She graduated from Columbia University and the Goldsmiths College, London.

She has exhibited solo at institutions such as the Carré d’Art Musée d’Art Contemporain, Nîmes, and the Kunsthalle Bern in Switzerland. Her work is represented in public and private collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis and the Centre national d'art et de la culture George Pompidou, Paris; as well as the Hoffman and Burger collections in Berlin.
