Franz Konrad was born in Graz in 1973. From 1991 to 1998 he studied architecture at the TU Graz and at the UNAM in Mexico (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico).
Konrad is half Styrian half American, he has lived in South America for a long time; he collects his impressions in Cuba, Romania or Western Styria.
The trained architect Konrad is a narrative and a political painter. Through the simultaneity of the representation - as if Konrad had not been particularly impressed by the invention of perspective - and through the mixing of image and text as in a comic strip, large-format, very colorful works are created that seem to be extendable at will.
In terms of content, Konrad deals with the living conditions of people with social considerations, with the ruthless consumer habits of the Western world and their impact on the lives of people in the Third World.
